BIOGRAPHY
Since entering the Toronto music scene, Saskatoon-born drummer and bandleader, Tim Shia has performed and recorded with many of Canada’s most acclaimed musicians, including Rich Underhill, Kevin Barrett, Laila Biali, Amanda Martinez, Julie Michels, Rich Brown, William Sperandei, Christine Bougie, George Koller, Ron Davis, Kelly Jefferson, Suzie McNeil, Elizabeth Shepherd, Tyler Yarema, Big Rude Jake, Milosh and The Undesireables, just to name a few. He has also performed with a number of international artists like Michael Danso (Scotland), Rain Lau (Hong Kong), Kevin Clark (US), Tim Chen (Taiwan) and even Wynton Marsalis (US)? As both sideman and leader, he has played festivals and shows across North America and Asia and has recorded and composed music for CDs, television and film.
Aside from his freelance work, Tim leads or coleads numerous original projects including, the acclaimed jazz group, the Worst Pop Band Ever and the educational program Jazz for Juniors, which he started when he was still an award winning music student at Humber College. He also runs PPF Multimedia with his brothers, teaches drums privately and tries to raise 3 feral young girls.
